which res for a monk is best?
out of all the ressurect a team mate skill for monks which is better in your opinion?
btw: there's restore life, light of dwayna, unyielding aura (elite), ressurect, vengeance, and rebirth. |

Rebirth is pretty much -the- raise spell for pve. As far as PVP, I would say Rez signet in team arenas and probably resurrect for tombs, although I've not done much tomb-ing.
Unyielding Aura is great for when you have whiners or griefers in your party. |

yeah rebirth is good for not ressing em back into the mob and putting em into a safe spot even though after ressing party should wait because youre energy will be low

All of them have their ups and downs of course.. but i use rebirth for one reason, to keep them away from mobs after rez, but sadly its the worst rez skill to use during battle and everyone has a hobby of yelling "rez now rez now!" so thats not too monk friendly... but aside from that i feel rebirth is the way to go

Vengeance is nice to play a nasty trick on someone, and is good for the 4v4 arenas. However I would also bring along a Rez Signet with it

If you are going to be a PVE healing Monk use restore life as it is attributed to healing for PVP protectionist Monk use rebirth as its attribute is protection. However the elite with no other is probably is the best.It is what Alesia uses and my Monk uses it restore life.If you are playing PVE War/Monk use ressurect.

I like Light a Dwayna in missions... But Just regular Resurrect in PvP... Not many die in groups in PvP.
If there are a few monks in the group I bring Res signat too... allows for faster Resing for battles... Thats normally on my protective monk build though |

My choice is rebirth , for all the reasons stated above. Usually two or three in party have res signet to bring someone back during a difficult battle.

As a monk primary, rebirth is good.
Though, as an E/Mo, I have to use Rebirth wisely, as it takes a bit to recharge 70 energy. Though in a tight battle where another player is better than my spells, I will use Rebirth, and sacrifice the energy to res a warrior or monk. I used Vengeance in PvE a few times just for the laughs when someone just dropped. |

I find Vengeance to be very useful, even in PvE. When your group is taking a beatdown by a mob, I can't afford the energy used by Rebirth, or the time required by Ressurect.
Vengeance rezzes a player in only 4 seconds to full health and energy. It's a good way to get a powerfuly player alive quickly, without expending all your healing capability. Yeah, they're usually a little bewildered after the 30 sec has passed, but I've gotten no complaints as long as I inform them that there's no DP with Vengeance. |

vengeance is fantastic fun. shouts of WTF!!!! echo around the arena.
using divine intervention in conjunction with vengeance or unyeilding aura provides a fast effective res that means they don't take Dp next time they die. (costs 20 energy). |

As a primary monk myself I'm still struggling with this issue. In the beginning I just used straight ressurection - nothing fancy to it, has a decent range, and recharges relatively well for a rez.
However, I have done some experimenting, and typically I'll now carry two different rez spells depending on the team I'm playing with. I'll almost always have Vengeance for PvP (the 30 seconds that certain characters remain alive can devestate the opposition!) and the other rez spell varies with the team. If I know the team is filled with elementalists or long range damage dealers then I'll use rebirth to get their corpse out of the melee and in a position where they're out of danger and effective. However if the team has some tougher types (warriors, rangers, maybe even monks) then I'll bring along regular rez, or maybe restore life if I'm feeling lucky. And divine intervention is the best pseudo-rez spell out there! They think they gotcha dead, but then *poof* loads of extra health! Rebirth is a great spell, but the drain it does on your energy is pretty costly. Also, to have to wait for the newl ressurected character to use their skills can also be a downer. |

Well Kanidate even though were real life friends im gonna have to disagree with you some what.
For PvE Rebirth is unquestionable the best res for any character. For PvP Vengance is a great soft res (better than res sig for the quick res) but it should be follwed up with a hard res (like restore life). For an E/Mo go Light of Dwanya as you can res your whole team on the altar. Restore Life is the best all-around hard res for PvP as when combined with a mesmers fact casting or an elemtalists glyph of sacrife it resses quickly with energy (somethign most resses don't do) and a fair amount of life. (the minius is touch range required). Now for PvP a monk really shouldn't be carying a res as you most likely won't have time to cast it without an interuption or another teamate will die during the cast. |
